Call for Artwork
Westport Art Group Summer Community Show 2025
All Artists, WAG members, and nonmembers are invited to participate in the 2025 Summer Community Show at the Westport Art Group. Artists may exhibit 2D and 3D artwork including painting, drawing, collage, mixed media, pastels, photography, sculpture, pottery, woodworking and metalwork. Proceeds from the show fund our programs and support the arts in our community.
There is no theme this year, just a celebration of sharing our artwork at WAG’s beautiful Art Gallery!
Opening Reception: Friday, July 25, 5:00-7:00 pm - Bring all your family and friends!!
Exhibit Days: Thursday July 24 - Saturday, August 9, on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays 1- 4 pm, except WAG will be closed Sunday August 10.
The Small (5”x7”)Painting Raffle Drawing will be on Saturday, August 9 at 3 PM. Raffle prizes may be picked-up at the close of the exhibition on Saturday, August 9, 3 -4:30 PM or or on Monday, August 5th, between 4-6 PM.
The show is free and open to the public at the WAG gallery, 1740 Main Road, Westport, MA. See you there!
Prospectus
Criteria for artwork for this show:
You may submit one or two artworks: pictures, sculpture or fine craft, 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional, in any media including photography.
Entries must be your original work, not a reproduction or copy of another work.
Artwork should have been completed by you within the last 5 years, and not previously shown at WAG.
Your artwork should be submitted for sale (25% commission). If desired, one painting can be not for sale, just be sure to specify the price or NFS.
Work must be properly framed and wired for hanging on a wall. (Sawtooth hangers are not allowed.) Please have your name, address, phone number, title, and price on the back of each work.
WAG reserves the discretion to not show a work, including, for example, a work that does not meet these criteria.
Entry Fees:
Pay online or pay at drop off.
MEMBER entry fee is $20 for one or $25 for two artworks, subject to a $15 discount if you volunteer to gallery sit on at least one day. (Choose Member Registration below. If you are paying online and have signed up to gallery-sit, enter coupon code GALLERYSIT at checkout to receive your $15 discount.)
NON-MEMBER entry fee is $30 for one artwork, or $35 for two artworks. (Choose Non-Member Registration below.)
WAG scholarship recipients pay no entry fee. (Please choose Member Registration below, with Pay at Drop Off.)
Artists submitting wall entries may also add up to 2 bin entries at no additional fee. All bin art must be wrapped in plastic and labeled on the back with artists name, email, phone, title and medium. Bin art can be reproduction prints, but it needs to be clearly stated on the label.
Please donate a 5x7 painting for our raffle, and you may then register an EXTRA painting for sale.
SMALL PAINTING RAFFLE DONATIONS : We ask that you donate one unframed 5x7 original painting for the Small Painting Raffle Wall. All WAG artists are invited to participate whether or not you enter the show. Artwork on paper must be matted or mounted. WAG can matte a limited number of 5”x7” works on paper. Drop off can be done in box in the kitchen any time WAG is open - or raffle painting drop off can be with show entry.
ARTWORK SMALLS: As a thank you to donating artists, you may register one EXTRA painting under 12”x12” for sale in our lobby. The painting must be priced at $150 or less. No extra entry fee for these, but limit 1 per artist, and please also enter the information on the entry form under the “EXTRA Artwork Registration” section.
Awards:
AWARDS: A “People’s Choice” award, will be presented based on votes by people visiting during the show. The award will be given at 3:45 pm on Saturday August 9th.
ONLINE ENTRY ONLY. Option to pay at drop off or pay online, but you must register online.
Online entry registration will be open until Friday, July 16. No image uploads are required. The entry fee is payable with cash or check at drop off, or with credit card online. Whether you pay online or at drop off, you MUST register online below.
DROP-OFF : Hand delivered only. Your artwork, once registered online, and the entry fee must be dropped off at WAG, 1740 Main Road, Westport Point, MA, on Monday July 21, 12-1:30 PM or 4-6PM. As we are hanging the show the next day, Tuesday morning, July 22, NO LATE ENTRIES CAN BE ACCEPTED.
5x7's donated for raffle can be dropped off anytime WAG is open BEFORE JULY 24, box in kitchen.
PICK-UP : All unsold artwork must be picked up when the show closes on Saturday, August 9 at 4- 4:30 PM, or on Monday, August 5th, between 4-6 PM. Works not picked up within 30 days become the property of WAG.
VOLUNTEER TO GALLERY SIT : We are looking for WAG members to support this show by volunteering to gallery sit. Volunteers are also eligible for a $15 discount on their entry fee.
