Color Workshop
LET’S MAKE COLOR, NOT MUD!
Taught by Patricia Schneider
Friday; May 8, 2026 9am-1pm
Artwork by Patricia Schneider
Often we hear people say how did you get that color?
We will focus on nailing colors using an approach that gives you the correct color without making mud! We’ll explore and identify how to see Chroma, Value and Hue to easily match colors that are giving you trouble. Beginning with some simple exercises and working towards more complex colors, you will learn an approach that works for most mediums including oil, watercolor, acrylics or colored pencil. ( No pastels, please) Instructor will provide all photos and some supplies. ( Limited to 14 participants)
*Students are encouraged to bring in a photo that is giving you trouble so we may discuss and help simplify (these are for discussion only).
Please find the suggested materials list by clicking here.
$65 for 4 hour workshop. All are welcome; 20% discount for WAG members.

Plein Air Westport with Sam & Bill
2 Mediums, One Outdoor Studio
A two day workshop: Tuesdays, June 16 & 23, 9am-4:30pm
With Sam Allerton Green and Bill Lane
Sam Allerton Green & Bill Lane teach together during their workshops. They both start with a demo of the same scene so that students can witness and learn from their process on identical subjects. Sam will paint in oils, Bill in watercolors. Their intro and demo will start promptly at 9:00 am on location and should finish around 10:45-11:00. The students will then paint at the same general location and pick a scene that speaks to them. Sam & Bill will visit each student throughout the day answering any questions and providing suggestions and guidance. Around 3:15 pm students will gather with their pieces–finished or not–for an informal crit. The crit usually lasts until 4:30ish depending on the class size. Students should grab lunch on their own schedule.
(Limited to 20 participants).
$290 for 2 sessions.
All are welcome, 20% discount for WAG members.
