Artist Reflection

Harbor Storm reflects my desire to capture the feeling of a moment in time at one of the southeastern Massachusetts coastal locations that I treasure. I want to share with the viewer the feeling of the wind as it moves the clouds, the waves, and the beach grasses, as well as the texture of the sand, rocks, and broken shells beneath our feet. We experience as the seasons change annually, stronger storms, warmer ocean water, extended droughts, increased temperatures, salt water intrusions, and rising seas. These impacts destroy beaches, wetlands, gardens, farmland and summer houses. As we feel our local climate change in these ways both intimate and immense, my paintings remind us that we must protect our natural beauty fiercely.
